Description Hand colored etching on cream colored wove paper. Image depicts John Bull, in a red jacket, yellow trousers, boots, and a dome shaped helmet seizing Napoleon by the nose and kicking him in the rear. Napoleon is wearing a blue coat, yellow trousers, red sash, boots with spurs, and an oversized bicorne hat with a tricolor plume. A gun and a broken sword lie on the ground. Napoleon cries "Oh Sacre Diable--Terrable John Bull.. Mercy__Mercy__Mercy" while John Bull exclaims "Damn ye, You black hearted treacherous Corsican,/ if you were not such a little bit of a fellow, in spite of your large cocked hat, I'd crack your skull in/ an instant with my fist, (Seizes him by the Nose) if/ your beggarly Soldiers come among us they'll soon/have enough of it, and damn me if/ any ten of ye shall have my person or/ property; So be off--(Kicks his A____) In the background Napoleon hangs form a gibbet marked "THE END OF BONEY" while figures below raise their hats and shout "Huzza" and "So be it". The caption "JOHN BULL peppering BUONAPARTE in the FRONT and REAR./ Published August 30, 1803 by John Fairburn 146 Minories, London." is printed at the bottom.
